Although Iran is not the land of spices, and usually this title should be used for a country like India, but Iranian market also has a position in this regard, since spices such as saffron, which is called the most expensive spice in the world, are registered in the name of Iran.
On the other hand, Iranians may be more interested in using different spices than people in many other countries. Estimates show that in Iranian market, 220,000 tons of spices are consumed annually, with a percentage of domestic production and a high proportion of spice importing to Iran.
The use of spice in Iranian cuisine has long been and is, as usual, used. The spice of Maxard Dosage is in Arabic, and it is said to have flavors that eat food and especially treat. The spice is the most reliant on imports. Because in Iranian market a very small volume, only about five spice, is massively produced. In the world, various types of spice such as turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, ginger and etc. are produced, and countries such as India, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia are leading these products for global marketing and also marketing in Iran too. Meanwhile, five types of spices are produced in Iranian market and produced in quantities of 50,000 tons. On the other hand, the annual consumption of spices in Iranian market is 220,000 tons, of which 170,000 are imported through imports. 170 thousand tons sold in two boxes and packed in the Iranian market. The type of flap is the same as the traditional way of buying and selling spices, and the type of packaging has become popular in recent years, which is a kind of investment for a more modern sale of spices. In any case, the major issue is the domestic market for spices, and it can even be said that over 22 million Iranian households consume these foods. Factories, food industries and even medical organs are also considered to be other major consumers of this type of food. So there are investment opportunities in this area out of marketing in Iran and global marketing.
Spices money turnover in the Iranian market
Cumin in Kerman, red pepper in Sabzevar and Gorgan, Simaq in Tabriz and Golper in Iranian northern cities, as well as saffron, are cultivated as the most expensive spice in different provinces due to spice marketing in Iran. Most of the Iranian market’s imported spices are zinger, spaghetti, turmeric, cinnamon and black pepper. Since many spice items do not fit in Iran at all, they import spices from countries like India, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. Also, if rainfall is high in the country, about 20,000 tons of cumin is produced for marketing in Iran, and a significant portion of it is exported annually, with exports depending on the market situation. The chairman of the Crop Growing Trade Union of Medicines said: "In years of low rainfall, crop production is reduced and may even drop from about 9,000 to 10,000, but still a significant portion of this product is exported." Celery is mainly exported from Iran to European countries, and celery is also produced in these countries," said Jalil Al-Maghazi, referring to the fact that more cumin is grown in Kerman and cumin in Mashhad, Sabzevar, Qom and Tabriz."
spice market problems
The spice market, like other markets, has not escaped fraud. According to Alireza Rezaei Ghahroudi, chairman of the Association of Astronauts and Abortionists, about 50% of the spice in the market is counterfeit and impure. Also, the chairman of the Medicines Association, referring to the existence of fraud in the Iranian spice market, said: "Because there may be mixed low quality seeds in the spices, and materials that are added to add quantity, if people are to buy spices, it is much better to buy turmeric and other spices on the market in the form of unpacked packages." In addition to the above, there was no other fraud on the Iranian spice market.
Packaging, the secret of non-oil exports growth
While the golden secrecy package is considered as a non-oil export growth, major agricultural products, including spices, have been diminished not only by the supply and demand of their products, but also because of the unfavorable processing and packaging, but they lose their export position on global markets every day. The name and brand of other countries are being marketed in the world market, which has damaged the Iranian commodity's credibility in global markets. Iran, with an annual production of more than 200 tons of saffron, is the world's leading producer of this product and supplies more than 90 percent of the world's saffron, but this product is again closed due to lack of suitable and marketable packaging in other countries such as the UAE and Spain out of Iranian market. These countries are named in target markets. The package is a subset of the art of marketing, which reflects the growth of the production structure and market of each country, so countries like Spain have been able to pack in marketable situations, so that the global market for saffron products in Iran is desirable. According to the experts, given that the competitive ability of goods with suitable packaging in world markets is far greater than the supply of this product in bulk or non-standard packaging, the government should develop the status of exports of non-oil products in the country with an efficient and principled planning. And can control the export of non-oil goods in the global market by controlling the tariffs of goods in the domestic market and selling them at an affordable price on the global market.
