Air Conditioner Imports Moved to Goods Group 26
The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has moved split-type air conditioning units under tariff codes 84151010 and 84159010 from currency priority Goods Group 25 to Goods Group 26, in response to requests from domestic manufacturers seeking greater protection for local production.

The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has approved a request to reclassify air conditioning units, specifically split-system units with indoor and outdoor units, from currency priority Goods Group 25 to Goods Group 26.
The Deputy for General Industries’ office notified the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran that, following communications from the Qom Province Department of Industry, Mine and Trade, the Installations Industry Association, and the Iran Home Appliances Industries Association, along with numerous requests received from domestic manufacturing companies, and in view of the need to support domestic production and restrict the import of goods that can be fully produced domestically, the goods group classification for air conditioning units should be changed from Group 25 to Group 26 for the purpose of better organizing foreign currency consumption management.
The reclassification applies to the following tariff lines:
- Tariff code 84151010 — self-contained (split) air-conditioning devices comprising separate indoor and outdoor units, changed from Goods Group 25 to Goods Group 26
- Tariff code 84159010 — parts falling under the air-conditioning devices classification of tariff heading 8415, changed from Goods Group 25 to Goods Group 26
The Ministry instructed that the change be applied in the Comprehensive Trade System accordingly. Businesses registering import orders for air conditioning units and related parts under these tariff codes should note the updated goods group classification, which affects the applicable currency priority and order registration treatment for these imports.
