Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has notified customs authorities of the conditions governing the import of alfalfa seed from Kazakhstan under tariff code 12092100.

The notice was issued through the Trade Development Organization of Iran’s Office of Export and Import Regulations, forwarding correspondence from the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad’s Deputy for Trade Development, which itself relayed a determination from the Plant Protection Organization. According to that determination, alfalfa seed imported from Kazakhstan under this tariff code is classified as carrying a high quarantine risk.

As a result, importing this product requires a license from the Plant Protection Organization at both stages of the import process: when registering the order and when clearing the goods through customs. Customs offices have been instructed to apply the necessary requirements in the relevant systems accordingly.
