2,500 Toyota Hiace Ambulances Approved for Import

Iran's Cabinet of Ministers has approved order registration, import, clearance and registration for up to 2,500 Toyota Hiace Type B ambulances with engine displacement above 2500cc, exempt from import duties for use in pre-hospital emergency medical services.

Iran’s Cabinet of Ministers, acting on a proposal from the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education under Clause (L) of Note 1 of the Single Article of the 1404 National Budget Law, has approved a resolution permitting the order registration, import, clearance and vehicle registration of up to 2,500 Toyota Hiace Type B (CBU) ambulances with engine displacement above 2500cc.

The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade communicated the approval to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration for implementation. Under the resolution, the vehicles are imported as fully built units (CBU) subject to the ceiling set in Clause (L) of Note 1 of the 1404 Budget Law, and are exempt from import duties and registration fees, for use in pre-hospital medical emergencies and at treatment centers of the country’s medical sciences universities and health, treatment and medical services organizations, administered by the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, without regard to the technical regulations otherwise applicable to vehicle imports, subject to compliance with other relevant laws and regulations. The resolution notes that if the State Welfare Organization or the Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation require additional ambulance imports under the same budget clause, a separate proposal will be submitted to the Cabinet respecting the statutory ceiling.

Government health authorities and customs officials handling these imports should apply the approval strictly to the specified vehicle type, engine size and quantity ceiling, and confirm the exemption applies before proceeding with clearance and registration.
