Barter Option Activated for Border-Province Essential Goods Imports

Iran's Trade Promotion Organization has instructed that, in addition to funding import orders from own-export proceeds or third-party export currency, the barter option under Clause 2 of the Council of Ministers' resolution dated 1404/09/01 be activated in the Comprehensive Trade System for supplying essential goods and regulating the domestic market from border provinces' capacity.

Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, through its Office of Export and Import Regulations, has instructed that the barter option be activated in the Comprehensive Trade System, implementing Clause 2 of Cabinet Resolution No. 141554/T65600H dated 1404/09/01 (and its subsequent amendment), which concerns using border provinces’ capacity for importing and supplying essential goods needed by the country and regulating the domestic market.

The notice follows earlier correspondence (No. 966481, dated 1404/09/11, and No. 907686, dated 1404/11/06) on making the barter and currency-transfer-free import mechanism operational for these border-province imports. The Office of Export and Import Regulations instructed that, in implementing Clause 2 of the resolution, the barter option be activated in the Comprehensive Trade System in addition to the existing funding routes of “own-export proceeds” and “currency-transfer-free” imports.

Copies of the notice were sent to the Central Bank of Iran’s foreign exchange allocation department and to Iran Customs for awareness and necessary action.

Traders using border provinces’ import capacity for essential goods and domestic market regulation should note that order registration in the Comprehensive Trade System can now proceed under the barter option, alongside the previously available own-export-proceeds and currency-transfer-free funding routes.
