Tariff List for Basic Goods and Animal Feed Inputs Under Currency Rule

The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has issued a tariff list covering basic goods, essential goods, and animal feed inputs eligible for import registration using foreign currency generated from exporters' own and other exporters' export proceeds.

The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has issued a tariff list identifying basic goods, essential goods, and agricultural and livestock feed inputs that are eligible for import registration using foreign currency generated from exporters’ own export proceeds and from the export proceeds of other exporters.

The notice was issued by the Export and Import Regulations Office of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, in follow-up to a request from the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad’s Deputy for Trade Development aimed at accelerating the supply of basic goods, essential goods, and agricultural inputs. The Deputy for Trade Development had earlier forwarded a tariff list for these goods and requested that imports be permitted to draw on currency obtained from own-account and third-party export proceeds.

Acting on this request, the Export and Import Regulations Office instructed that the tariff codes for basic goods, essential goods, and livestock feed inputs be processed accordingly, so that the required funding for these imports can be secured through the “currency generated from own and other exports” mechanism. Customs and trade offices were asked to act promptly to implement the arrangement.

Businesses importing goods on the applicable tariff list should coordinate with their banking and customs channels to register import orders under this currency-sourcing mechanism and should monitor the Comprehensive Trade System for the specific tariff codes as they are entered.
