Order Registration Incoterm Edits Allowed Without Cancellation

Iran's Trade Development Organization has instructed the Comprehensive Trade System to allow editing of an order registration's contract type (Incoterm) to another term within the same international contract group, without requiring cancellation of an active currency source, correcting an earlier notice's FCA-to-FAS and DAT-to-DPU term labels.

Iran’s Trade Development Organization, through its Office of Export and Import Regulations, has issued a follow-up notice to the Center for Innovation and Smart-Enablement and Security correcting and clarifying an earlier communication (No. 6682462 dated 1404/09/10) regarding conditions for enabling correction (editing) of the order registration contract type (Incoterm) with the foreign seller, without requiring cancellation of the currency source.

The correction addresses two term labels from the earlier notice: the term “FCA” is corrected to “FAS,” and the term “DAT” is corrected to “DPU.” Under the current policy, edits are permitted among international contracts within the same group, based on Incoterms rules, across three groups: FCA-FAS-FOB; CPT-CFR-CIF-CIP; and DPU-DAP-DDP.

The measure follows an earlier case in which a trading company (Pish Beyn Company) encountered a system error stating that “changing the contract type is not possible due to the absence of an active currency source” when attempting to edit its order registration contract type in the Comprehensive Trade System. Given that the current Comprehensive Trade System procedure allows traders to edit the shipping term (Incoterm) of an existing contract without an active currency source when the edit is made under the Deputy’s instruction included in the company’s letter, the organization instructed that the system rules be updated to allow editing of an existing contract type to another term within the same group, per the latest Incoterms version and the terms and groupings above, without requiring cancellation of the currency source.
