Conditions Announced for Order Registration Term Edits
Iran's Trade Development Organization has instructed the Comprehensive Trade System to allow traders to edit an order registration's contract type (Incoterm) to another term within the same international contract group, even where an active currency source exists, addressing a case in which a trading company was blocked from editing its shipping terms after a change in circumstances.

Iran’s Trade Development Organization, through its Office of Export and Import Regulations, has instructed the Center for Innovation and Smart-Enablement and Security to announce conditions enabling correction (editing) of an order registration’s contract type (Incoterm) with the foreign seller, even where an active currency source exists for the order.
The measure follows a case involving Pish Beyn Trading Company, cited as an example of the inability to make such an edit due to having an active currency source. When attempting to edit its order registration contract type in the Comprehensive Trade System, the company encountered a system error stating that “changing the contract type is not possible due to the absence of an active currency source.” The company had explained that its imported raw materials — cellulosic pulp for paper production and fluff pulp used in diaper and feminine hygiene product manufacturing — are sourced mainly from factories in the United States and Europe, procured indirectly through intermediaries in the UAE, Turkey and China due to sanctions; the resulting lengthy currency allocation and supply process (exceeding two months) often led to changes in sellers’ shipping terms, requiring order registration edits that the system did not permit.
Given that the current Comprehensive Trade System procedure allows traders to edit an existing contract’s shipping term (Incoterm) without an active currency source when the change is made under Deputy-level instruction, the organization instructed that the system rules be updated to allow editing of an existing contract type to another term within the same group, based on the latest Incoterms version, without requiring cancellation of the currency source. The applicable Incoterms groupings for such edits are: FCA-FAC-FOB; CPT-CFR-CIF-CIP; and DAT-DAP-DDP.
