Tariff Code Edits Beyond Four Digits Allowed for Import Orders

Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization has instructed customs and trade authorities to permit edits to import order registrations that require a change to the tariff code beyond its first four digits, where the goods concerned appear on the list of essential goods.

The instruction follows a directive from the Deputy Minister, acting on a request from the relevant deputy of the Trade Promotion Organization, and applies to import orders for goods on the announced essential goods list, subject to review by the responsible specialized deputies. Once foreign exchange allocation has been received for a registered order, edits to the tariff code beyond the first four digits may be made for commercial-type orders, in compliance with other applicable rules and regulations.

This allowance is available through January 3, 1405 on the Iranian calendar (March 23, 2026). The notice specifically excludes tariff codes related to solar panels from this allowance, noting that the existing restriction on editing tariff codes for that category remains fully in force.
