Export Ban on Agricultural Tomatoes

Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization has announced a ban on the export of agricultural tomatoes, removing the product from the list of goods previously exempted from the country’s general export restrictions.

The measure follows a communication from the Deputy for Commercial Development of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad. Agricultural tomatoes under tariff code 07020010 had previously been included on the list of goods exempted from export prohibition, as announced by the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad. Under the new notice, this item has been removed from the exemption list, and its export is now prohibited until further notice.

The prohibition takes effect based on Article 11 (repeated) of the Executive Bylaw of the Law on Export and Import Regulations. The notice specifies that goods and shipments for which customs declarations were filed within the customs area by April 6, 2026 (16 Farvardin 1405) are not subject to the new prohibition, and will be handled under prior arrangements.

The notice further clarifies that this restriction operates alongside the general export prohibition announced on April 2, 2026 (13 Dey 1404) and its subsequent exceptions, which remain valid until further notice. Iran’s Customs Administration has been asked to communicate the change to executing customs offices.
