Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has extended the rule permitting the use of foreign currency earned from one’s own exports or the exports of others to cover imports classified under tariff code 31051090, which covers mineral fertilizer containing three elements.

The decision was communicated by the Ministry’s Import and Export Regulations Office to the Center for Smart Innovation and Security, following correspondence from the Deputy for Trade Development at the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad. That correspondence, in turn, referenced an earlier letter concerning the possibility of importing agricultural-sector goods using foreign currency generated from exports, and confirmed that imports of mineral fertilizer containing three elements under this tariff line are included in the relevant list and may proceed.

The Import and Export Regulations Office instructed that the rule be implemented in the Trade Regulations System, enabling the necessary action to be taken for goods under tariff code 31051090.

Importers of three-element mineral fertilizer should note that they may use foreign currency proceeds from their own exports, or from exports carried out by others, to finance imports under this tariff code, subject to the applicable procedures in the Trade Regulations System.
