Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, through its Import and Export Regulations Office, has forwarded to Iran Customs an updated list of tariff codes exempted from the general export prohibition currently applied to goods classified under tariff chapters 1 through 42.

The exceptions were compiled by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade’s Food, Pharmaceutical, and Health Industries Office, following a review carried out in response to requests from industry associations and manufacturing units. The review took into account the buildup of export shipments and cargo trucks at customs offices and border crossings, exporters’ contractual obligations, market preferences for food product baskets, labeling requirements, and the short shelf life of certain food products, particularly dairy items, that are packaged and labeled to match the language, standards, and specifications of destination markets.

The newly announced exceptions apply in addition to previously issued exception lists and do not replace them; goods listed in the earlier notices remain exempt from the export restriction as well. The current exceptions are effective until further notice and cover ten tariff items, including instant (soluble) coffee, processed coffee preparations based on extracts, essences, or concentrates, other concentrated fruit juices, ready-made baking powder, cake gel food preparations, active dry yeast for baking, other types of fruit leather (lavashak), other types of jam, yogurt and doogh powder improvers, and other meat preparations.

Customs offices and executive agencies have been instructed to apply these tariff codes when processing export declarations, and exporters dealing in the listed food, pharmaceutical, and health industry products should confirm that their goods’ tariff classification matches the exceptions list before proceeding with export procedures.
