Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has instructed the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration to add a new set of tariff codes linked to the General Industries Deputy to the percentage-based customs clearance list.
The notice, issued through the Ministry’s Export and Import Regulations Office, follows a request from the General Industries Deputy asking that the codes be added to the percentage clearance list based on justifications received from applicants, and earlier correspondence confirming the validity of the percentage clearance approval. The tariff codes were forwarded to customs for implementation, subject to compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Percentage-based clearance allows importers to clear a shipment through customs while a portion of the applicable duties and value is settled on a deferred or partial basis, subject to the terms set by the competent authority, rather than requiring full payment before release of the goods.
Based on the tariff descriptions in the notice, the newly added codes cover chemical and plastic goods including ortho-xylene (o-Xylene), meta-xylene (m-Xylene), and styrene; hot-stamping foil sheets; polypropylene-based compound blends; single-layer printed sheet; sheet made from ABS and PVC alloy; magnesium nitrate; and laminated non-woven sheet or roll material described as backsheet for diaper production. The notice also covers vulcanized rubber tubing and hose, both with and without related fittings and accessories.
Importers of goods matching these descriptions should confirm the exact tariff code and eligibility for percentage clearance with the Ministry’s Export and Import Regulations Office or the relevant customs office before relying on this treatment, since the notice’s tariff table also includes precise numeric codes for each item.
