ICT Equipment Tariff Codes Added to Percentage Clearance List

Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has added a group of tariff codes covering information and communication technology (ICT) equipment to the percentage clearance list, allowing goods under these classifications to be released from customs ahead of full foreign currency allocation.

The decision falls within the Ministry’s ongoing practice of adding specific tariff codes to the percentage clearance list at the request of relevant industry offices and importers, to facilitate the customs release of equipment used in production and technology sectors while formal currency allocation is pending. As with other additions to this list, the affected tariff codes are processed by the Trade Development Organization’s Export and Import Regulations Office and communicated to Iran Customs for implementation.

Under the decision, goods classified under the affected ICT equipment tariff codes will be subject to percentage clearance, in compliance with other applicable rules and regulations, for the validity period set by the competent approving authority.

Importers of information and communication technology equipment should monitor the Comprehensive Trade System and coordinate with customs and banking channels to confirm whether their specific tariff codes are included and to apply the percentage clearance mechanism where applicable.
