Import Ban Lifted on Denture Cleaning Tablets

Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, through the Deputy for General Industries, has lifted the import prohibition on denture cleaning tablets and reclassified the product’s commodity group in the Comprehensive Trade System from group 27 to group 26.

The change follows correspondence between the Ministry’s Deputy for General Industries and the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran regarding a request to remove the import restriction on this product. The Food and Drug Administration’s Medical Equipment and Supplies Office had previously indicated that it had no objection to removing denture cleaning tablets from the priority-72 import prohibition list.

Acting on this clearance, the Deputy for General Industries instructed that tariff code 03096033, covering denture cleaning tablets, be moved out of the import-restricted classification and placed into the active commodity group 26 in the trade regulations system. The Trade Promotion Organization’s Export and Import Regulations Office was informed of the change for implementation.

Importers of denture cleaning tablets under tariff code 03096033 should note that the product is no longer subject to the prior import prohibition and can be processed under the applicable commodity group 26 procedures, subject to compliance with other relevant import rules and standards.
