The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, acting through the Trade Promotion Organization’s Import and Export Regulations Office, has issued the ninth supplementary list of tariff codes exempted from the current export ban on agricultural products classified under chapters 1 to 24 of the Export Regulations Book.
The export ban on chapter 1-24 items was originally imposed under a directive from the Deputy Minister for Trade Affairs, following the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad’s identification of tariff codes subject to the restriction. Since then, the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad’s Trade Development Deputy has periodically proposed additional codes for exemption, based on an assessment of domestic market conditions, for items that do not warrant continued restriction. The ninth such list, prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, has now been forwarded to Customs for implementation.
The ninth exemption list covers the following thirteen items:
- 01012910 – Horses, subject to veterinary confirmation and approval from the Deputy for Livestock Affairs
- 03022200 – Halva fish (silver pomfret)
- 03028900 – Other fish, including sabity fish and grouper
- 04059000 – Other (butter oil)
- 07041000 – Broccoli
- 07081000 – Green peas
- 07082000 – Green beans
- 07089000 – Green beans (other)
- 08011100 – Desiccated or grated coconut
- 08043000 – Dried pineapple
- 12129965 – Watermelon seeds
- 17039000 – Sugar beet molasses
- 21039090 – Other sauces, including pomegranate sauce
Exporters of these thirteen items are no longer subject to the general export ban applicable to chapter 1-24 agricultural products, effective from the date the notice was issued to Customs. Businesses should confirm with Customs that their specific tariff codes appear on the exemption list before proceeding with export declarations.
