Following parliamentary ratification of the law on the Free Trade Agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its member states, and the agreement’s communication for implementation, Iran’s Trade Development Organization has acted to prepare the necessary groundwork ahead of the agreement’s entry into force, originally expected within two months of the May 2025 ratification.

The Trade Development Organization’s International Affairs and Trade Agreements Advisor instructed the Export and Import Regulations Office to enable import order registration for tariff codes covering goods imported from EAEU member states that were previously subject to import prohibitions, with the exception of items prohibited on religious or legal grounds. The measure is intended to remove trade barriers consistent with the agreement’s provisions and to allow currency allocation from exporters’ own export proceeds, as well as from the proceeds of other exporters, for items covered by the agreement, in addition to existing currency-sourcing arrangements. A list of the affected tariff codes, covering a wide range of goods across multiple tariff chapters, was circulated together with the notice.

Businesses seeking to import goods from EAEU member states under previously prohibited tariff codes should confirm with the Comprehensive Trade System and their banking channels whether their specific tariff codes are now eligible for order registration and currency allocation under this arrangement.
