Export Ceilings for Petrochemical-Related Tariff Codes

Iran’s Trade Development Organization has issued instructions to Customs regarding the export of goods classified under tariff codes similar to those used for petrochemical products, but manufactured by companies that are not part of the National Petrochemical Industries Company group.

The measure addresses units that are not formally classified as petrochemical companies but produce goods under tariff codes matching those of petrochemical products listed by the National Petrochemical Industries Company. Because these units fall outside that classification, their exports are treated separately and subject to specific quantity ceilings set by the relevant customs offices.

According to the notice, exports of these goods are permitted up to defined tonnage ceilings at designated customs points. For example, sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid produced by Kimia Kolar Kaboudan may be exported through Orumiyeh Customs up to a combined ceiling that adds the current authorization to a prior one, while maleic anhydride produced by Sadr Shimi Gostaran Yazd is capped through Yazd Customs. Businesses operating under tariff codes that overlap with petrochemical product classifications, but that are not affiliated with National Petrochemical Industries Company, should confirm their applicable export ceiling and the specific customs office through which shipments are authorized before proceeding with export declarations.
