Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization has directed customs authorities to restrict exports of petrochemical, chemical, and polymer products in response to the country’s current emergency economic conditions.

The measure was issued under Clause 15 of the third supplementary package on national economic resilience and non-military defense in emergency conditions, following an earlier directive from the Deputy for General Industries at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade. According to the directive, exports of all tariff codes listed for petrochemical products under a related list are prohibited until further notice, except for goods with confirmed surplus quantities and companies authorized to export, which will be announced to Iran Customs following approval by the National Petrochemical Company and the Export and Import Regulations Office.

The restriction similarly applies to all tariff codes covering petrochemical products manufactured by downstream industries. Exports of these items are also prohibited until further notice, with exceptions handled the same way: surplus goods and authorized exporting companies require confirmation from the Ministry’s Chemical and Polymer Industries Office together with the Export and Import Regulations Office before Iran Customs is notified.

A further restriction applies specifically to a subset of tariff codes covering linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid (LABSA), polyethylene compound, polypropylene compound, polyvinyl chloride compound, and preform, whose exports are also prohibited until further notice. Items already subject to the broader export ban on chapters 1 through 24 of the Export and Import Regulations Book, referenced in an earlier notice dated March 3, 2026 (No. 7365591), remain outside the scope of this particular restriction, since that separate ban already applies to them.

In a subsequent letter, the Trade Promotion Organization forwarded a list of producer companies (or their official representatives) together with the tariff codes of goods authorized for petrochemical product exports, confirming that this list, valid under Clause 15 of the referenced resolution, applies from April 20, 2026 through May 30, 2026. Any extension needed beyond that period will be announced separately.
