Conditional Authorization Granted for Potato Exports

Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has lifted the export ban on potatoes, authorizing exports of the item under tariff code 07019000 on a conditional basis.

The decision follows a request from the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, which reported that domestic supplies of autumn-harvest, stored potatoes exceed national consumption needs. Based on that assessment, the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade agreed to allow conditional exports of potatoes, moving away from the previous blanket restriction that had applied to this product under an earlier notice dated March 2, 2026 (No. 7365591).

To ensure that only genuine surplus stock is exported, a working group has been formed in each province to confirm that potatoes offered for export are indeed autumn-harvest and stored surplus rather than potatoes needed for the domestic market. Export shipments must be verified and approved solely with the signature of the head of the provincial Agricultural Jihad Organization, and the supporting documentation must be presented at the time of customs declaration.

Customs authorities have been instructed to process exports under tariff code 07019000 only upon system-based confirmation from the designated representative of the Deputy for Trade Development at the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad. Exporters and logistics operators handling potato shipments should ensure that the required provincial verification and documentation are in place before goods are declared to customs.
