The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has notified the relevant systems that, for 52 tariff codes falling under the Chemical and Polymer Industries Office, obtaining a product identification code (Shenase Kala) is not required at the time of import order registration.
The matter follows an earlier communication from the Deputy for Trade Development’s Logistics and Commercial Services Office, which had underscored the importance of specialized offices pursuing product identification code requirements at order registration, citing an emphasis from the Parliament’s Article 90 Commission, and had asked that order registration for items identified by the Chemical and Polymer Industries Office be made conditional on obtaining a product identification code, pending establishment of a web service link between the relevant systems for the affected tariff lines. That earlier notice also referenced the correspondence between product identification codes and IRC/IVC codes, and noted that items covered by Ministry of Health or Ministry of Agricultural Jihad licensing requirements were already subject to the product identification code requirement.
Following further consideration, the Export and Import Regulations Office of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran notified the relevant technology and systems center that, in light of considerations related to the (52) tariff codes associated with the Chemical and Polymer Industries Office, the product identification code requirement does not apply to these codes, and asked that this be reflected in the Comprehensive Trade System’s rules engine.
Businesses registering import orders for goods under the affected tariff codes should note that they are not required to obtain a product identification code as a precondition for order registration, distinguishing these codes from other categories where the requirement remains in effect.
