The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, through the Trade Promotion Organization’s Export and Import Regulations Office, has notified Iran Customs that obtaining a product identification code (“shenaseh kala”) is now mandatory at the time of import order registration for 15 tariff codes associated with the Office of Electrical Equipment, Electronics, Software and Creative Industries.

The requirement follows correspondence from the Logistics and Trade Services Office, based on emphasis from the Central Headquarters for Combating Smuggling of Goods and Currency and Article 90 Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) regarding connection of the Comprehensive Trade System to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs system. Reviews conducted in coordination with the product identification system’s technical staff found that headings already existing in the product ID system fully cover the listed tariff codes, and the office accordingly prepared to establish the order registration requirement, requesting that use of the product ID for these tariff codes in the Comprehensive Trade System be mandatory effective one month after publication.

The 15 affected tariff codes include: 8533.9000 (parts and accessories), 8423.8100 (weighing machines with maximum capacity of 30 kg), 8514.3900 (other), 9001.1019 (without connectors), 8473.2100 (for electronic calculating machines under specified subheadings), 8528.9910 (video playback devices with displays combined, without television receiver, installable type), 8521.9010 (car DVD player for headrest or ceiling mounting), 8506.6030 (button cell batteries), 8542.3300 (amplifiers), 8543.9000 (parts and accessories), 9306.3000 (other cartridges and their parts and accessories), 9025.9000 (parts, accessories and fittings), 9024.9000 (parts, accessories and fittings), 9030.9000 (parts, accessories and fittings), 8532.9000 (parts and accessories), and 9005.9000 (parts, accessories and fittings, including stands).

Consistent with articles 24 and 30 of the executive bylaws of the Law on Continuous Improvement of the Business Environment, the requirement becomes mandatory one month after publication in the laws and regulations database (qavanin.ir) related to the business environment, after which the rule change is applied in the Comprehensive Trade System in accordance with those bylaws.

Importers of goods under these tariff codes should obtain the required product identification code before registering import orders once the one-month grace period following publication has elapsed.
