Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization has notified the Center for Innovation and Smart Systems and Security that obtaining a product ID (Shenaseh Kala) is now mandatory at the time of import order registration for 15 tariff codes falling under the Electrical Equipment, Electronics, Software and Creative Industries Office.

The requirement follows a review conducted by the Ministry’s Technical and Engineering Services Office in coordination with colleagues from the product ID system, in light of the Central Headquarters for Combating Smuggling of Goods and Currency’s emphasis on the requirements communicated under Principle 90 Commission directives regarding the connection of the Comprehensive Trade System to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs system, as mandated by the Islamic Consultative Assembly. The review found that the existing headings in the product ID system fully cover the 15 tariff codes listed below, and the office confirmed it was ready to establish the product ID requirement for import order registration in the Comprehensive Trade System.

The 15 tariff codes subject to the requirement, effective from February 25, 2026 as originally communicated, are: 92071000 (electric musical instruments, other than accordions), 90173000 (micrometers, calipers, and gauges), 90330090 (other measuring instruments), 90251920 (thermocouple thermometers), 90289090 (other gas/liquid meters), 85232970 (magnetic-stripe cards, including for magnetic strip encoding, sheets and rolls), 94054230 (explosion-proof lamps), 85322590 (other capacitors), 85365010 (rotary switches), 90258090 (other instruments), 85322900 (other capacitors), 85030020 (rotors for power-plant generators), 91091000 (electrically operated clock movements), 90021100 (objective lenses for cameras, projectors, or photographic enlarging/reducing apparatus), and 85153110 (submerged-arc welding machines).

The notice clarifies that where all or part of these tariff codes require a license from other organizations or agencies, the product ID requirement will apply only after those organizations confirm their readiness. As with other import and export regulation changes, this requirement becomes legally effective one month after publication on the qavanin.ir legal and regulatory information database related to the business environment, in accordance with the executive regulations of Articles 24 and 30 of the Law on Continuous Improvement of the Business Environment.
