Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has introduced a requirement to obtain a product identification code, known as Shenaseh Kala, at the time of order registration for 19 tariff codes falling under the ministry’s Office of Manufacturing Machinery and Equipment Industries.

The requirement was communicated by the Import and Export Regulations Office of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, following coordination with the ministry’s Office of Logistics and Commercial Services and in line with decisions of the National Working Group under Article 11 of the Executive Bylaw on Product Identification and Tracking Codes. The measure applies to the 19 tariff codes listed by the Manufacturing Machinery and Equipment Industries Office, covering items such as hay and forage balers, drilling and boring machines, grinding and polishing machines, freeze-drying and spray-drying equipment, ship anchors, pipe and bolt cutters, and related machinery parts and accessories.

Under the notice, the product identification requirement will first be enabled in the Comprehensive Trade System on an optional basis. Traders and manufacturers may begin registering the product identification code for the listed tariff codes voluntarily starting from the date of publication. After a period of up to one month following publication and activation in the system, use of the product identification code becomes mandatory for order registration involving these tariff codes.

Businesses that import or manufacture goods under any of the 19 affected tariff codes should begin the process of obtaining the required product identification codes promptly to avoid disruption to order registration once the mandatory phase takes effect. The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and the Trade Promotion Organization are responsible for overseeing implementation and for further notices regarding the transition to mandatory enforcement.
