Iran’s Council for Pricing and Adoption of Supportive Policies for Basic Agricultural Products has lifted the seasonal ban on customs clearance of imported rice for the 1405 harvest season, removing a restriction that normally applies each year from early August through late November.

The decision was adopted at the Council’s session held on July 11, 2026, under the authority of the Law Amending the Law on Guaranteed Purchase of Basic Agricultural Products, as referenced in Majlis Islamic Consultative Assembly Resolution No. 6/0 dated November 23, 2020. It rescinds the restriction on rice clearance during the harvest season set out in Note 8 under the note following Chapter 10, Part Two of the Export-Import Regulations book, specifically for tariff codes 10062000, 10063010, 10063020, and 10064000.

The Ministry of Agriculture Jihad communicated the Council’s decision to the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, the Ministry of Interior, and the Plan and Budget Organization. The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade subsequently forwarded the resolution to the Customs Administration for notification and implementation, confirming that the restriction on clearing rice under the listed tariff codes during the harvest season does not apply in 1405.

Importers and customs brokers handling rice shipments under the affected tariff codes should note that clearance is now permitted throughout the harvest season for 1405, without the seasonal hold that has applied in previous years. Businesses should continue to monitor further notices from the Customs Administration and the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade regarding implementation.
