Rice Harvest-Season Clearance Ban Lifted for 1404

Iran’s Council for Pricing and Supportive Policies for Essential Agricultural Products, in its session of October 13, 2025, resolved to lift for the 1404 Iranian calendar year the seasonal prohibition on clearing imported rice under tariff codes 10062000, 10063010, 10063020 and 10064000 that normally applies from late July through late November each year (Clause 8 of the notes under the Chapter 10 explanatory notes, Part Two of the Export and Import Regulations Book).

The council’s resolution, made under the Law on Amending the Law Guaranteeing the Purchase of Essential Agricultural Products, states that the clearance of all imported rice consignments at customs during the harvest season requires prior approval from the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad. Following clearance, all imported rice must be delivered to the Government Trading Corporation of Iran (GTC), the state-owned specialized trading company.

Importers of rice under the affected tariff codes should obtain the required Ministry of Agriculture Jihad approval before attempting customs clearance during the harvest season, and should be prepared to deliver cleared shipments to the Government Trading Corporation of Iran as required by the resolution.
