Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, through the Trade Promotion Organization’s Export and Import Regulations Office, has issued the sixteenth list of tariff codes for agricultural products exempted from the export prohibition. The notice was sent to the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran for implementation.

The exemptions follow correspondence from the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad’s Deputy for Trade Development, which forwarded the list to the Trade Promotion Organization after evaluating domestic market conditions for the products concerned. Each item on the list is exempted from the general export prohibition because market assessments showed that exporting it would not adversely affect domestic supply. The Trade Promotion Organization instructed that the exemptions be communicated to Iran Customs so that the listed tariff codes can be processed as approved for export.

The list itself covers agricultural tariff codes falling under Chapters 1 through 24 of the national tariff schedule – the chapters covering live animals and animal products (including livestock, poultry, and aquatic products such as fish and other seafood) as well associated processed food goods. It was compiled and forwarded by the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad as an addition to the existing list of items exempted from export restrictions, since these tariff codes had not previously been included among the exempted chapters.

Exporters and customs brokers dealing in agricultural commodities under HS Chapters 1 through 24 should verify whether their specific tariff codes appear on the sixteenth list before relying on the exemption, since the export prohibition otherwise remains in force for tariff codes not listed. Businesses should also monitor for any subsequent lists, as the Ministry has indicated that exemptions are reviewed and updated periodically based on ongoing market assessments.
