Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, through its Import and Export Regulations Office, has instructed the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration’s Import Office to add a new tariff item to the list of goods that may be imported by cross-border porters (kolbars).

The change follows a request from South Khorasan Province’s Industry, Mine and Trade office, which reported that sweet basil (sherbati) seed, listed as item 18 on the approved list of goods eligible for kolbari trade, could not be properly processed. When applicants attempted to submit statistical registration requests for this item using a proforma invoice, the system produced an error indicating that the porter could use one of the permitted tariff codes, which prevented the registration from being completed.

To resolve the issue, the sweet basil seed item, under tariff code 12119035, has been added to the list of tariff codes eligible for entry by cross-border porters. The updated tariff code list has been communicated to the relevant executive customs offices for implementation in the applicable registration systems.

Porters and provincial trade offices processing statistical registrations for sweet basil seed under the kolbari import arrangement should ensure that tariff code 12119035 is used going forward.
