Tariff Codes Added to Percentage Clearance and Essential Goods List

The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, through its Import and Export Regulations Office at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, has added a number of tariff codes to the percentage clearance list and the list of essential goods, covering raw materials and production-intermediate parts.

The measure follows a request from domestic manufacturing companies and a related decision recorded in the minutes of the meeting of the foreign exchange working group. It builds on an earlier notice from the Deputy for Machinery and Equipment Industries concerning tariff registration for essential goods, which asked that production continuity and employment at manufacturing units be supported by adding the relevant tariff codes to the essential goods list.

Under the decision, the newly added tariff codes cover separated components used in the manufacture of motorcycles, semi-trailer road tractors, bicycles, buses, hybrid passenger cars, and pickup trucks, distinguished by their respective domestic manufacturing content ratios. Goods classified under these tariff codes will be eligible for percentage clearance and essential-goods treatment, subject to compliance with the relevant rules and regulations, for as long as the approval remains valid with the competent authority.

Importers and manufacturers using the affected tariff codes should continue to observe the applicable customs and import regulations while the approval is in effect, and should monitor further notices for any changes to the list or its validity period.
