The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, through its Import and Export Regulations Office, has communicated a new list of tariff codes to be added to the percentage clearance list, covering goods overseen by the Deputy for Mining Affairs and Mineral Industries and the Deputy for Machinery and Equipment Industries.
The list of mineral-industry tariff codes includes items such as unroasted iron pyrites, certain fabrics of glass fibers, lignite coke and semi-coke, pitch, alpha alumina and other forms of alumina, open-weave glass fabrics up to 30 centimeters wide, glass-fiber absorbent insulation for battery plates (AGM battery insulation), thick-walled hot-rolled steel products, and twisted wire of at least five strands coated with brass.
The list of machinery and equipment tariff codes is substantially larger and spans several sub-sectors, including components for the automotive, motive power, and transportation industries; electrical and electronic equipment industries; medical and laboratory equipment; and general production machinery and equipment. Examples of newly added codes include automotive roof-liner sandwich panels without a metal layer, composite CNG cylinders for vehicles and refueling stations rated for at least 200 bar, seals, gaskets, and other sealing components, airless automotive shock absorbers, brake pads and linings, clutch linings, ceramic exhaust filter cores, rear-view mirrors for land vehicles, needle center pieces, backrests and cushions, and spring components for vehicle seatbelt retraction mechanisms integrated with plastic housings.
Goods classified under these tariff codes become eligible for percentage-based customs clearance, subject to the applicable rules and the continued validity of the approval. Importers and manufacturers relying on these tariff codes for production inputs should confirm their specific codes against the published list and continue to observe standard customs and import compliance requirements.
