Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has issued the thirteenth supplementary list of tariff codes exempted from the country’s general ban on agricultural exports.
The notice, issued through the Ministry’s Export and Import Regulations Office, follows an earlier circular that had announced the export ban covering items under Chapters 1 through 42 of the Export and Import Regulations tariff book. It forwards a list of ten additional tariff codes, agreed with the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad’s Deputy for Trade Development, that are not subject to that prohibition and may accordingly be exported.
The exempted items include several categories of seafood and agricultural goods. Under tariff code 03061700, other types of farmed fresh shrimp are exempted. Tariff code 03022900 covers other fish, including varieties described as shir, sarem, saman, karafe, talal, and sea bass. Human hair (tariff code 05010000) and onion powder (tariff code 07122000) are also exempted without further conditions.
Several pulse and grain categories are exempted subject to prior approval from the relevant deputy at the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad. Ordinary chickpeas (tariff code 07132030), colored chickpeas (tariff code 07132040), and other chickpeas (tariff code 07132090) require confirmation from the Deputy for Crop Affairs. Fodder corn (tariff code 10059010) and other fodder corn (tariff code 10059090) require both a provincial recommendation and confirmation from the Deputy for Livestock Affairs, as does sugarcane bagasse (tariff code 23032000), which requires confirmation from the Deputy for Livestock Affairs.
Exporters intending to rely on this exemption should confirm the applicable tariff code and any required prior approvals with the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad before proceeding, as several of the listed items remain conditional on case-by-case sign-off.
